Nepal’s high trails do not form one single kind of trek. Everest Base Camp follows the Khumbu through Sherpa settlements and Buddhist monasteries. The Annapurna Sanctuary moves quickly from subtropical forest into a glacial amphitheatre. Manaslu, Upper Dolpo, Api and Saipal demand a more remote rhythm, while Poon Hill and Mardi Himal make high views possible on shorter itineraries.
Some journeys centre on a crossing: Thorong La on the Annapurna Circuit or Larkya La around Manaslu. Others lead toward water and spiritual landscapes: Gosaikunda, Rara, Phoksundo, Khaptad and Badimalika. Upper Mustang replaces green valleys with wind-carved cliffs, caves and Tibetan-Buddhist settlements.
A journey designed around altitude
The source itineraries preserve acclimatisation days and overnight elevations because the route is not simply a checklist. Travel dates, weather, permits, fitness, transport reliability and the pace of a group all shape the final plan. WildWalk uses those itineraries as considered starting points, then adapts the real journey to the people walking it.
